Initially the client's server and the website were running on an OVH server situated in Paris. Due to a natural disaster such as the fire at the data center, the client’s properties as well as many irreplaceable files and information were lost. These files were of utmost importance to the client but due to a natural calamity, they couldn’t be found which caused a huge downtime for the client’s website.
Also, the Website running on the OVH platform was slow due to the problem of some applications level like network requests taking a long time, application code or database queries being inefficient, an application using high memory/CPU, application crashing due to an exception, and many more.
The client now wanted to migrate its server and website to Microsoft Azure as it has high availability and reliability. Csharptek helped the client with their problem by fully creating, deploying, and maintaining the server on the Azure cloud and adopting Microsoft Azure Cloud migration which has increased the uptime as well as reduced any downtime which occurs during high traffic spikes on the server. We had also used Azure Managed services to easily build and deliver fully managed applications to the client without knowing complications on maintenance and servicing.
Azure cloud migration offers a wide range of frameworks for quickly building and deploying a web server and APIs. Csharptek has used Microsoft Azure cloud migration for the client’s server as it has fully managed services that provide infrastructure, security, and scalability. With Azure, the server was able to simplify a lot of operations with automatic platform maintenance and security patching. It also has built-in intelligent and interactive, troubleshooting through Azure App Service Diagnosis, building real-time views of any resource through Azure App Monitor, and many more.
Maintaining a server is a necessity for any server as in case of any natural disaster the data might get lost. For this, Csharptek has provided high durability of data with Geo Redundancy and Azure disaster recovery strategies and backup. Azure cloud migration uses memory-preserving maintenance mechanisms for more than 90 percent of servers improving the resiliency and failures.
Achieving high availability of the server was a difficult task for the client but by migrating the server to Azure they could achieve 99.95% of the uptime. Azure cloud migration provides a Service level agreement (SLA) for providing one instance with 99.95% of the time out of two or more instances. This is because the data is replicated in two or more availability zones so that if one of the data centers strike with a disaster or is upgrading then the data should retrieve from another data center.
Along with this, Azure cloud migration has the uptime for various other services used by the server such as 99.9% for API management, 99.9% for App Configuration, 99.9% for Automation, 99.99% for both Azure Active Directory and B2C, 99.9% for Azure Backup, 99.95 for Azure Functions and so on.
In case of high traffic on the server at a single interval of time, the server was facing the situation of high downtime and network request were taking a long time to process but after migrating the server to Azure, high traffic spikes were not able to cause any downtime. Implementation of azure traffic manager helped to control the distribution of traffic across client's application endpoints, with continuous monitoring of endpoint health and automatic failover when endpoints fail. It balances the load in case of high traffic providing high availability and quick responses. This also improved the client’s server’s performance by redirecting the traffic to the endpoint with low latency. Once the Azure Traffic Manager is in place, there is no requirement for downtime which occurs while application maintenance/upgradations, patch purgation, or complete new package deployment.
Azure cloud migration has transformed the ability to engage with customers in a more agile way and has optimized their operational processes, thus, increasing the overall performance of the client’s server and website significantly. Azure Cloud Migration of the website has helped to access network requests quickly, efficient application code and database queries, high uptime of the server, and so on.
